Filing Fees When you file a document with the court, you may be required to pay a fee. Whether you need to pay a fee- and the amount of that fee- depend on the type of case you are starting or the type of document you are filing. You can find an up-to-date list of filing fees here. Fee Waiver If you cannot afford the filing fees, you can request the court to cover the fees by applying for a Fee Waiver. You will need to fill out an application for a fee waiver and file this with the Clerk when you turn in your other paperwork. If your application is denied, the court will ask you to pay the fee. You can find the application online or in person at the Clerk’s office or Self-Help Center.
